The Future of Baptist Higher Education investigates four key issues
that inform Baptist efforts at higher education -- the
denominational conflict that has afflicted Baptists since the
1980s, the secularization of higher education in America, the
dominance of the market-driven tendencies in American higher
education today, and the meaning of Christian higher education, but
more specifically, the meaning of Baptist higher education. This
volume clearly illustrates that the meaning of Baptist and
Christian higher education, as with the Christian life itself, is
far more complex than any one imperial interpretation.
I managed to live through and survive from a most incredible period
of time in the History of the World. That was during the Rise, Fall
and Aftermath of the Hitler Regime and World War II. Reading this
book is like a "Time Capsule." It brings you into my life from 1925
up until the present time. Over my life span, if someone had
predicted to me, what I would have to endure, I would have deemed
him "insane." I had a beautiful childhood and was raised in an
upscalem German home. Later on, all that was meaningless to me and
all that was important was to somehow survive and stay "alive."
Somehow I overcame the many cruel obstacles and unbearable odds
that were set before me. In the end, somehow I survived through it
all, and still keep suriving today.
This book focuses on the participation of U.S. based women
entrepreneurs in Patents and Trademarks activity. Using data
obtained from the United States Patents and Trademarks Office, the
book probes, in-depth, the number of patents and trademarks
obtained by women entrepreneurs as well as the concomitant gender
gap for the period 1975-2010. The purpose of this book is to
quantitatively define the number of women entrepreneurs applying
for and receiving patents and trademarks, and analyse the
differences in the number of women applying for and receiving
patents and trademarks as compared to men.
This is a true story about a few not so ordinary American people
born of and/or married into the Roler, Campbell and Popp family
lines. Stigmas, Sagas and Curses have been strongly attached to the
family line of Roler. Along the way, there have been various issues
related to different types of personalities, to the Order of the
Free Masons, and to the effects and impact of living with Alzheimer
Disease. It begins in New York and then takes you to California in
the late 1930's. It continues going back in time to the State of
Georgia, followed by the city of Columbia, in Tennessee in the mid
1800's. Then we continue on to the turn of the century, coming into
a vast span of time through the 1900's. World War I, immigrating to
the United States from Germany, life in New York and then in Ohio.
One chapter is about the 104th Battalion of the Seabees. It tells
and shows a glimpse of what actually was accomplished during the
years of 1943-1945, World War II, in New Guinea, the Admiralty
Islands and the Philippines. The story then continues through the
next sixty or so years, up to the present. I would like to refer to
my writing this book as it being a sort of Kaleidoscope/collage of
people, places and times. The symbol of the Bee does not just
represent the Seabees. Remember that the honey from the bee is
sweet, but that the bee also stings, so watch out Enjoy this
true-to-life story, it is much to Buzz about

Efforts to mitigate climate change have focused on reducing carbon
dioxide (CO2) emissions into the atmosphere. Some of these efforts
centre on reducing CO2 emissions from deforestation, since
deforestation releases about 17% of all annual anthropogenic
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and is seen as a relatively low-cost
target for emissions reduction. Policies aimed at reducing
deforestation are central points of a strategy to decrease carbon
emissions, reflected in pending legislation in Congress as well as
in international discussions, such as the December 2009
negotiations in Copenhagen. This book discusses the linkages
between forests and climate, describing the characteristics of the
major forest biomes, with an overview of deforestation causes and
impacts and approaches to reducing deforestation.
